In this project, we are divided into groups of 5 to conduct a research on a given building. My group was given the Notre Dame De Paris, an ancient building which is rich in Gothic Architecture characteristics.The project is divided into 3 parts: PART A, PART B & PART C. Part A gives us questions in which we have to conduct research on and to post the answers on the online group forum. I was given the question on MATERIALS AND METHODS OF CONSTRUCTION. I did thorough research on this topic which helped me a lot when proceeding into PART B. 

 

PART B is the individual assignment in which we are to research on a certain topic on the given building, and produce 2 A2 sized presentation boards. I was given the topic of BUILDING MASSING ANALYSIS ( MATERIAL & STRUCTURE/ GEOMETRY/ UNIT TO WHOLE ).

 

PART C is the group assignment in which we are to choose a few significant features of the given building and carve out a balsa wood model. My group and I chose to carve out the Rose Window, Flying Butresses and also the Rib Vaults which are special Gothic Architecture features. Through this project, i gained a significant amount of knowledge regarding historical buildings especially Gothic Architecture.
